Foxglove Flower Seeds
West Coast Seeds, Foxglove Flower Seeds - Detailed Description
Elevate your garden with Foxglove Flower Seeds. These towering beauties, reaching 2m (6') in height, showcase enchanting tubular flowers that gracefully nod along robust spires. The blooms, often adorned with captivating speckles, make a stunning addition to borders, woodland gardens, or any space where their natural tendency to self-sow can be appreciated.
Flowering from late spring through summer, Foxgloves may surprise you with a secondary bloom atop their stems in late summer or fall. For an enchanting display in their first year, start seeds indoors in late winter and plan to transplant them where they can rise elegantly at the back of your garden. While they prefer moist, shaded areas, Foxgloves will also flourish in full sun, provided they receive ample moisture.
Be mindful that Foxgloves are prolific seed producers. To manage their spread and maintain order in your garden, consider cutting the flower stalks down promptly after the blooms fade.
It's important to note that all parts of the Foxglove plant are toxic. Their beauty adds a dramatic flair to your garden, but the flowers should be handled carefully, especially around children and pets. Invite the timeless elegance of Foxgloves into your garden for a display that captivates and enchants from late spring onward.

How to Grow Foxglove Flowers
Planting Schedule:
To witness the majestic bloom of Foxgloves in your garden the following year, direct sow seeds outdoors immediately after the last frost has passed. In regions with milder winters, consider an additional sowing in the autumn.
Gardeners eager to enjoy Foxglove flowers within the first year should begin sowing indoors in December or January, planning to transplant seedlings outdoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost. Seeds typically germinate within 14-21 days. Ensure indoor starts receive ample bright light at a cozy soil temperature of 15-18°C (60-65°F).
Seed Starting:
Gently sow seeds on the soil's surface, as they require light for optimal germination. When it's time to move them outdoors or to their final locations, ensure they are spaced or transplanted 45-60cm (18-24 inches) apart to allow ample room for growth.
Growing:
Foxgloves thrive with deep, regular watering sessions, which support their towering blooms and lush foliage. After the flowering period, trim away spent stems to discourage self-sowing unless you desire a self-propagating display in your garden.
Be mindful during hot and dry spells, as Foxgloves can suffer; they benefit significantly from additional watering to combat stress. Left to their own devices, these plants often self-sow, perpetuating their presence in your garden for future enjoyment.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can enjoy the elegant and statuesque beauty of Foxgloves. These plants not only enhance your garden's visual appeal but also invite a touch of wild charm by naturalizing over time.
